Ah hah. I think I know why. When you click on the icon a window pops up asking you for the address. This is the web page that the link takes you to. But however I was wrong: it doesn't prompt you for the text of the link- in other words, the text that appears on the blog. When you click ok after typing in the address it puts in the HTML code for the link, and it leaves the cursor in between the "tags" < a ... > and < &frasl a >. That is where the text should go. So all you have to do is type the text, and when you've finished, move the cursor past the < &frasl a > tag. Got it?
